History comes alive for your students as they read the actual words of men and women who lived it. Even the most reluctant reader will be able to understand and enjoy the material.
Each lesson is shorter than two pages and is broken into two or three steps to assist students in their reading and comprehension. Each book contains a review and a glossary of key words.
There are four books:
From New World to New Nation: From the time of the voyage of Columbus to independence from England.
Growth of the New Nation: The growth of the new nation, the rise of nationalist feeling, and the problems of slavery.
New Directions for the United States: The period from 1860-1900: the Civil War, Emancipation, Reconstruction, Immigration, the rise of business and labor unions.
The United States in the 20th Century: World Wars, the Depression, the Cold War, Vietnam, Watergate, The Reagan years.
